This session explores the latest developments in corporate accountability frameworks for nature and their link with circular strategies. It provides an overview of key targets for nature and how companies can effectively measure the impact of circular initiatives on nature degradation and loss. The session introduces a new methodology which helps companies understand how their circular strategies impact nature.

Christian works with focus on EU taxonomy, the Sustainable Food Systems initiative and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). He also contributes to WBCSD’s work on nature-positive production and supervises sustainability field trials on two of Bayer’s German ForwardFarms. Christian studied biology at the Philipps-University in Marburg and gained practical experiences during internships at the local nature conservation authority and the UNEP-joined secretariats of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) and the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic, North East Atlantic, Irish and North Seas (ASCOBANS). He has an MSc from the Technical University in Munich and has also studied at the ENS Lyon in France. He later received his doctoral degree from the University of Bielefeld for the investigation of microalgae for biofuel production. Afterwards he worked with Dr. Knoell Consult GmbH as expert for metabolism studies for plant protection products and as global regulatory project manager. He joined Bayer’s environmental safety department in 2017. From 2019 to 2021 he took the role of a global policy advocacy manager, and since 2021 supports the EMEA PASS team.
