Accelerating the transition towards a circular built environment
What is the current state of the built environment in Europe? How to effectively scale-up and replicate solutions to address systemic barriers?
Time: Thursday 1 June at 10:00–13:00 EEST (UTC+3)
Place: Sitra office, Itämerenkatu 11-13, Helsinki and online
During this session, the Circular Building Coalition will present the latest findings from its collaborative research into the current state of the built environment in Europe. They will share insights on the European construction industry’s carbon budget, the development of markets for secondary materials, financing for circular buildings, and emerging business and ownership models.
It will also focus on identifying effective strategies to scale-up and replicate solutions that address systemic barriers, emphasising the crucial role cities must play in driving this transformation. To this end, the coalition will open a call for collaboration with organisations committed to leading the way in implementing and scaling innovative circular economy solutions.
The event will consist of two parts. First, experts will present their understanding of the systemic challenges in accelerating the transition to a circular built environment, and then examine the role of cities in the transition towards a circular economy in the context of ICLEI’s CityLoops project.
